  • What Kind of Snare Sound is this?

first I thought that it was a steel snare layered w/ a normal snare then I realized that this is not the case. Anyone know what it is?

Its sounds like a normal snare with a fat reverb on it, this shit is really wet with a quicker decay time not gated like 80s snares.

It's definitely heavy on the reverb. Like BrandonF42088 said I think it's just a "snappy" snare soaked in reverb or recorded with a lot of the room's natural reverb.

          It's a Hihat
          hit hard.
It's just like that in the original song that RZA sampled

I was going to say the same thing...sounds as if it's a open hat. Definitely sounds extra dirty.

Yeah, I'm hearing a real loud hi-hat played/mixed fortissimo, but there's an extra punch in there that I think is a nice and tight acoustic snare - tight like a marching band snare with some wet, reverb. Maybe a plate. Such an ill track.
