Alot of studios used Beldin cables they are good and not too expensive. If you want high end cables that is "client approved" then get the nice name brand cables like moster, mogami, or canare. I use hosa on some of my shit but I didnt really know any better when I bot them. The solder job on hosa and some cheap cables are really shitty esspecially after I learned to solder and assemble cables in my studio maintenance class.

I just found this website:
monoprice.com
Fortunately for me they are local. 8 trs cables 6 ft (monster quality), are only 4.68 ea. This is a fraction of what overpriced monster/mogami stuff costs. All nickel connectors gold plated. The wire is the same build as the gucci brand cables.
Just thought I would share.If I don't like it I don't like it that don't mean that I'm hatin"

Yea man. I been rackin my brain for a week trying to find a solid cable sollution. On one hand I didnt want to buy that cheap hosa shit, on the other I didn't want to pay evil prices for mogami monster stuff. Out of all the cables I've researched from high-low end, and even diy'ing them, These are by far the best deal.
I still plan on building my own set. I've actually got an idea that I plan on selling. I might use you guys as a test market! If I don't like it I don't like it that don't mean that I'm hatin"

Word. Check this out Sa'id. I just bought (10) 6' TRS-TRS cables with the same exact materials as monster uses (gold plated nonsense etc) AND a cable sleeve kit to make it a snake, for the same price that Samash and GC quoted me for a 5' basic Hosa Snake.
What is just as amazing to me as the high end cable LIE that monster/canare/mogami/ portray, is the ridiculous proffit margins that Samash and other retails joints mark up.
I actually just met a guy who worked for Hosa and he told me that GC often marks up entry level Hosa cables 5-8 times what they buy them for!!
So next time you guys are lookin for cables, PLEASE don't sleep on Monoprice.comLast edited by ginsuthaironchef; 06-17-2009, 10:41 PM.If I don't like it I don't like it that don't mean that I'm hatin"

Solder them! LOL. Buy the parts and make them. You can find online how to make them. You learn a new skill and now you can make whatever cables you need for whatever length. LOL. I have used Monster and cables that my brother made and I hear no difference. If anything the "homemade" cables are better to me because my wallet is more heavy afterwards. LOL. Good luck with your decision!...

i agree with making your own cables. it's actually pretty easy and once you get the hang of it you'll be able to make all the cables you need. i used to work at the company that distributes mogami cable here in the us and i just bought bulk mogami cable and soldered connectors to them.

I'am using cheap cable right now, (Turntable ->mixer- audio interface/Macbook -> speakers)
But I have a lot of interference problem. My usb hub send a lot of bad noise through my cables. I just ordered a new mixer, and i decided to order monster cables... I don't think i'am gonna change my "studio" cables very often, so i told my self "what's the hell, let's try Monster cables". I think I will keep them for the next decade, so it's not very expensive at the end.
For live setup, it would be different i think, as the cables are plugged out, and in, moved... I would not buy expensive cable to use on live scene, except if there is a sound problem...
